The NAPLAN is a three-yearly general assessment of literacy and numeracy proficiency, testing students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. The test assesses students’ abilities in reading, writing, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and numeracy and aims to provide a snapshot into how your child is performing nationally across their cohort.
The NAPLAN helps students to identify the areas which require additional support in terms of their literacy and numeracy levels. Being skilled in literacy and numeracy is fundamental to a child’s learning as every other academic skill builds upon these core skills. Therefore, it is important to be able to assist students in further progressing their skills to prepare them for the future.
The NAPLAN tests students’ ability to apply specific learning and problem-solving skills through the format of literacy and numeracy tests. Students are asked to show their understanding of specific grammar rules or processes to solving equations, as well as their ability to navigate multiple choice questions, interpret instructions and tailor their responses to specific audiences. It may also be the first time your child has worked under exam conditions or time constraints so it is important to work on adequate time management in order to succeed under pressure. These skills are valuable for their success in future academic endeavours.
At Arc Tutoring, we offer educational programs based on the NAPLAN curriculum to provide students with a strong foundation in numeracy and literacy skills.
